Sam Gregory covers Sheffield, the Rotherham borough, Barnsley, north Derbyshire and the Bassetlaw villages, which is the distance one locksmith in one van can actually reach. Five of those places have a page of their own naming the villages inside them, and the rest are listed here. Where a journey takes longer than half an hour he says so on the phone rather than quoting the same figure everywhere.

The patch is set by drive time rather than by a radius on a map, because a radius treats forty minutes of motorway and forty minutes of moorland as the same distance.
Sam works alone from north Sheffield, so the furthest he travels is about 45 minutes, and anything beyond that is a job somebody closer should take. That limit is what makes the 30 minute figure meaningful for the places inside it, and it is why the areas listed here stop where they do.
The same limit changes what is sensible at night. Overnight call outs are kept for local work, because a lockout two counties away helps nobody at three in the morning. Each area page says plainly whether night work is realistic there, and the honest answer is different for a village ten minutes away than for one over the county boundary. Where a lockout cannot wait, the emergency locksmith page explains what happens on arrival.
Five places have enough searching of their own to justify a page, and each one names the villages inside it, the real jobs done there and the travel time.
Sheffield itself does not have a separate page, because the home page is the Sheffield page. Splitting the city into district pages would produce twenty pages saying the same thing with one word changed, which is the pattern search engines treat as doorway content and customers see through just as quickly.
The districts covered across the city are Hillsborough, Walkley, Crookes, Wadsley, Stannington and Crosspool in the north west, Ecclesfield, Grenoside, Parson Cross, Firth Park and High Green in the north, Darnall, Attercliffe, Handsworth and Frecheville in the east, Heeley, Meersbrook, Woodseats, Gleadless, Norton and Beighton in the south east, and Nether Edge, Sharrow, Broomhill, Ecclesall, Dore, Totley and Fulwood in the south west. Mosborough, Halfway and Killamarsh on the Derbyshire edge are covered as well.
Five areas make up the patch, and each one holds a group of towns rather than a single place. The table names the area, the towns inside it and whether an overnight call out there is realistic.
| Area | Towns inside it | Overnight call out |
|---|---|---|
| Sheffield | The whole city, from Hillsborough and Crookes to Woodseats and Totley | Yes, this is the local patch |
| North Sheffield villages | Chapeltown, High Green, Grenoside, Ecclesfield, Thorpe Hesley | Yes, minutes from base |
| Rotherham borough | Rotherham town, Rawmarsh, Maltby, Wickersley, Dinnington, Bramley | Usually, depending where in the borough |
| Barnsley borough | Barnsley town, Wombwell, Hoyland, Cudworth, Penistone, Darton | Daytime work, overnight only if close in |
| North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw | Chesterfield, Dronfield, Staveley, Worksop, Shireoaks | No, somebody closer will reach you sooner |
The last column is the one worth reading before an emergency rather than during one. A locksmith who promises 24 hour cover across five boroughs is promising something one person cannot do, and the honest version is that the further out you are, the more it pays to book rather than to call at midnight.
These places are covered in exactly the same way, and they sit inside one of the five pages above rather than carrying a page each.
A village not having its own page says nothing about whether Sam works there. It means the people in it search for the nearest town rather than for the village, so a separate page would be a page nobody looks for. Where that changes, a page gets built, which is how the north Sheffield villages came to sit under a page of their own rather than a line on the home page.
The decision is made by looking at what the search results actually show for that town, rather than by guessing which places sound important.
For a place like Rotherham or Barnsley, searching for a locksmith there returns pages about that town specifically, which means people expect a document about their own town and a city page will not satisfy them. For a village like Greasbrough or Thurcroft, the same search returns the Rotherham pages instead, because that is the level people actually think at. Building a page for the second kind produces something nobody searches for.
So a town earns a page when the results for it are about that town, and sits inside its parent area page when they are not. That is why Chapeltown has its own page at a hundred searches a month while larger looking places nearby do not, and it is also why more pages will appear here over time as those results change.
Three things fall outside, and naming them saves a wasted journey for both sides.
If you are close to one of those lines it is still worth ringing, because the answer depends on where Sam is at the time rather than on a boundary drawn in advance. What he will not do is take a job he cannot reach in a sensible time and leave you waiting for it.

I wanted to deal with a locally based professional directly not through an extra layer of I don’t know what . What I got was just that . Add on skill and a determination to do a thorough job at a fair price . Job done could not be happier . Highly recommended!!!Posted on Google![]()

Amazing, honest, speedy service, a rarity to find someone trustworthy nowadays but Sam was friendly, honest, up front about costs and repairs went out of his way and beyond to help and give advice. And on top of that did an excellent job. I would 100% recommend Prime Locksmiths to anyone. If you're looking for a skilled, down to earth, knowledgeable, trustworthy locksmith and want to support a local business then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.Posted on Google![]()

I was recently on the receiving end of an attempted burglary where the lock was almost broken in to. Around midnight I was searching for someone to replace my door lock and handle and put on an anti-snap lock. I came across Sam and he responded very promptly, and arranged the earliest appointment to see me. The service was very quick and the quality of the work was excellent. Sam also gave some great advice along the way. Thank you for your help at such short notice.Posted on Google![]()

Excellent. My front door was quite tricky to sort out. Gave me price for work prior to starting and advised me of any extras there may be(there weren't any). Explained what he was doing and why. Went over and above work requested to ensure everything was as it should be. Good price. Prompt work. Would definitely recommend.Posted on Google![]()

We had a great experience with Sam, who replaced our front door locking system. From the start, he was professional, friendly, and clearly knew his trade inside out. He explained the options in a way that actually made sense, didn’t push anything unnecessary, and helped us choose a solution that felt secure and good value. The work itself was done efficiently and to a really high standard and everything feels solid and works smoothly, which is exactly what you want with something as important as your front door security. He also made sure everything was tidy before leaving, which we really appreciated. What stood out most was how reliable and straightforward he was—turned up when he said he would, communicated clearly, and took pride in doing the job properly. He clearly cares about his work to a high standard and it shines through in how he works. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sam to anyone needing a locksmith. Honest, skilled, and genuinely helpful. He will be out locksmith moving forward :)
Not sure whether you are covered
Tell Sam where you are and what the door is doing. If you are inside the patch he will say how long he will be, and if you are not he will say so rather than taking the job and arriving late.
Each page names the villages inside that area, the real jobs done there and how long the journey actually takes.
Rotherham town, Rawmarsh, Maltby, Wickersley and Dinnington.
Barnsley town, Wombwell, Hoyland, Penistone and Cudworth.
Chesterfield, Dronfield, Staveley and Clay Cross.
Worksop, Shireoaks, Carlton in Lindrick and Gateford.
Chapeltown, High Green, Ecclesfield and Thorpe Hesley.
The work is the same wherever you are in the patch, and each job has its own page.
TS007 3 star cylinders measured and fitted flush to the handle.
Gearboxes, multipoint mechanisms and doors that will not lock.
Locks changed after a move, a split or a lost key.
Doors and frames made secure the same day, then repaired.
Short answers on how far Sam travels, which towns have their own page, what is outside the patch and whether distance is charged. If your question is not here, call Sam on 07842 685254.
If it is in Sheffield, the Rotherham borough, Barnsley, north Derbyshire down to Chesterfield or the Bassetlaw villages around Worksop, yes. If you are near the edge it is still worth ringing, because the answer depends on where Sam is at the time.
About 45 minutes at the furthest. Beyond that somebody closer will reach you sooner, and Sam says so rather than taking the job. Most of the patch is inside 30 minutes.
No. There is no mileage charge anywhere in the area and no call out fee. The job, the parts and the time of day decide the price, which is set out on the how a locksmith job is priced page.
Because people there search for the nearest town rather than the village, so a page for it would be a page nobody looks for. The work is identical either way and your village is listed on the page for the area it sits in.
No. Doncaster is the one nearby town outside the patch, and saying so now is better than a wasted journey for both of us.
Not everywhere. Overnight call outs are kept for local work, so a late night lockout in Chapeltown or north Sheffield is realistic and one in Worksop or south of Chesterfield is not. Each area page says which it is.
Within 30 minutes or less across most of the patch, unless Sam is already on a job. He works alone, so when that happens he tells you how long he will actually be rather than quoting a time he cannot keep.
Yes, the whole city rather than selected districts. Sheffield coverage is set out on the home page because splitting it into district pages would repeat the same information many times over.
Ring and ask. If Sam cannot reach you in a sensible time he will say so, and he would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have waited an hour.
All of them. There is no reduced service for the outer towns, only a longer drive, and every job is on the residential locksmith services page.
Yes, across all of it. Locks changed between tenancies, keys cut to the number the agent and tenant need, and an invoice afterwards rather than payment at the door.
Call or WhatsApp 07842 685254 and say where you are. Every way of reaching Sam is on the how to reach Sam page.
