Sam Gregory is a domestic locksmith who takes on a limited amount of commercial work, and that work is lock and door repair rather than security systems. He repairs aluminium shopfront doors, opens business premises that are locked out, changes cylinders between tenants and secures a unit again after a break in, across Sheffield and Rotherham. He spent years as a curtain wall installer before becoming a locksmith, so aluminium doors on a parade of shops are familiar ground. Work is quoted before it starts, with no call out fee and no VAT, and invoiced to the business.
Six jobs cover the commercial work Sam does, and all six are repairs or replacements rather than installations.
Anything beyond that list is better given to a specialist, and the next section says plainly what Sam does not take on, so nobody loses a morning finding out.
Five kinds of commercial job fall outside what Sam offers.
If a premises needs any of those, a commercial security specialist is the right call and Sam will say so on the phone rather than quoting for it. He does not board up broken glass either, which is glazing work.
A front door at home is used perhaps six times a day. A shop door is used six hundred, and every one of those cycles lands on the same closer, latch and cylinder.
The practical result is that a cylinder replaced before it fails costs far less than a lockout during trading hours.
The aluminium door on a shop or an office is a narrow stile door, which means the frame around the glass is slim and the lock has very little metal to sit in.
That changes the parts. Narrow stile doors take their own hook locks, deadlatches and cylinders rather than the chunky mechanisms a uPVC house door uses, and a replacement has to match the stile width, the backset and the lock case, not just the door make. Sam measures the existing case rather than ordering from the shopfront manufacturer.
The faults are consistent. The deadlatch wears so the door shuts without latching, the hook lock stops engaging as the door drops on its pivots, the closer drags the door out of square, and the cylinder seizes from dirt and constant use. Sam repairs the lock and resets the door where it has moved, and the years he spent fitting curtain walling are why the aluminium side of this work is routine rather than unfamiliar.
A business lockout costs trading time, so it is treated as an emergency in the same way a home lockout is.
Sam answers the phone himself 24 hours a day, opens most commercial doors without damage, and replaces a cylinder on the spot where the keys are gone. Where staff have left or a contractor has not returned a key, a cylinder change takes minutes per door, and cylinders can be supplied keyed alike so the premises runs on one key rather than a bunch.
Where the cylinder is being changed anyway, fitting 3 star anti snap locks costs only the difference in the part, and a shopfront deserves it more than a house does, because it sits empty and out of sight every night.
For landlords and agents letting units, a change between tenancies is the same job as a house, invoiced to the landlord or the agent, with spare keys cut at the same visit.
The commercial work splits between independent shops and takeaways on the parades across Sheffield, small offices and studios in converted buildings, landlords and agents turning units around between tenants, and tradespeople with a workshop or a yard.
What they have in common is a door that has stopped working rather than a security system that needs designing. Sam prices on the call, invoices the business afterwards, and the absence of VAT means the figure quoted is the figure on the invoice, which for a business that cannot reclaim VAT is a straight saving of a fifth.

Amazing, honest, speedy service, a rarity to find someone trustworthy nowadays but Sam was friendly, honest, up front about costs and repairs went out of his way and beyond to help and give advice. And on top of that did an excellent job. I would 100% recommend Prime Locksmiths to anyone. If you're looking for a skilled, down to earth, knowledgeable, trustworthy locksmith and want to support a local business then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company.Posted on Google![]()

I was recently on the receiving end of an attempted burglary where the lock was almost broken in to. Around midnight I was searching for someone to replace my door lock and handle and put on an anti-snap lock. I came across Sam and he responded very promptly, and arranged the earliest appointment to see me. The service was very quick and the quality of the work was excellent. Sam also gave some great advice along the way. Thank you for your help at such short notice.Posted on Google![]()

Excellent. My front door was quite tricky to sort out. Gave me price for work prior to starting and advised me of any extras there may be(there weren't any). Explained what he was doing and why. Went over and above work requested to ensure everything was as it should be. Good price. Prompt work. Would definitely recommend.Posted on Google![]()

We had a great experience with Sam, who replaced our front door locking system. From the start, he was professional, friendly, and clearly knew his trade inside out. He explained the options in a way that actually made sense, didn’t push anything unnecessary, and helped us choose a solution that felt secure and good value. The work itself was done efficiently and to a really high standard and everything feels solid and works smoothly, which is exactly what you want with something as important as your front door security. He also made sure everything was tidy before leaving, which we really appreciated. What stood out most was how reliable and straightforward he was—turned up when he said he would, communicated clearly, and took pride in doing the job properly. He clearly cares about his work to a high standard and it shines through in how he works. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sam to anyone needing a locksmith. Honest, skilled, and genuinely helpful. He will be out locksmith moving forward :)

A limited amount. Sam is a domestic locksmith who takes on commercial lock and door repairs, which are shopfront doors, lockouts, cylinder changes and break in repairs. He does not take on security systems.
The work is quoted before it starts and the figure depends on the door, the parts and the time of day. There is no call out fee and no VAT, and the guide on how commercial work is priced explains what moves it.

No. A master key suite is a design job and Sam does not take it on. A commercial security specialist is the right call for one.
No. Access control, fobs, readers and mechanical keypad locks are all outside what Sam offers, and he will say so on the phone rather than quoting for them.
No. Sam has repaired panic bars, but fitting them to a door that has none is not work he does, because fire exit hardware has its own standards and installers.
